One of the most popular Salsa groups of the Manny Cepeda Orchestra conglomerate is the MCO 11- piece band. Their professional demeanor and stellar performance rank them as the # 1 Salsa Band in San Diego. Since 2010 Manny began a series of public concerts called “Salsa Under the Stars\,” and today he currently hosts 5 Salsa Under the Stars in downtown San Diego. Manny Cepeda\, a Puerto Rican composer and arranger\, leader of the Manny Cepeda Orchestra has been inducted as a recording artist of his new CD productions “Roots/Raices” and “Padre Querido” featuring his original lyrics and musical arrangements. Manny drew back from his early childhood teaching of his famous uncle Rafael Cepeda and dedicated this CD on his honor. On his latest CD\, Manny paid tribute to his father\, Barber/Musician “Don Leonides Rivera.” The Manny Cepeda Orchestra Quartet continues to delight the audiences here in San Diego with his series “Salsa Under the Stars” held at The Headquarters District at Seaport Village every third Friday of the month from 6-9 pm and Little Italy’s Piazza Della Famiglia on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Then there’s definitely a rocker side of me with sharper teeth.” \nIn the last few years\, the Grammy-nominated Scottish Musician has expanded on these musical\nselves by focusing on a trilogy of records\, where each album zeroes in on a single concept: soul\,\nbody and mind. The first\, 2016’s KIN\, was the soul record; 2018’s WAX was the body record\, and\nthe new NUT is the mind record. \nProduced by Martin Terefe\, who co-wrote her 2005 global hit “Other Side of the World\,” NUT\ndraws on Tunstall’s love of percussive West African grooves as a metaphor for the learning patterns\nof the mind\, and is an eclectic album that seamlessly weaves together disparate styles. She found\nher writing mojo thanks to “Canyons\,” a song propelled by a grimy\, heavy rock riff. In keeping\nwith NUT’s theme\, the song’s lyrics are about the canyon-like physiology of the brain\,\nand explore the parallels between humans developing unique identities and the way nature evolves\nand is shaped over time. Elsewhere\, NUT’s lyrics and sound delve into KT’s own personal\nevolution\, and the way we all evolve through the repetition of behaviors and our reactions to life\nexperiences. “Private Eyes” grew out of Tunstall’s brush with the vampiric downside of fame\,\nwhile “Three\,” summarizes the arc of the trilogy\, inspired by a journal practice where she would\nwrite multiple entries on one topic from the different perspectives of mind\, body and soul.\n“It was necessary in the circumstances to make NUT completely differently from any other record\nI’ve made\,” Tunstall says. “But I was excited and ready for that.
