“Chef Jason McLeod is an esteemed culinary figure with nearly three decades of experience in the industry. He gained significant recognition as the opening Executive Chef at RIA in Chicago’s 5-Star Elysian Hotel, where he led the restaurant to earn two Michelin stars during its first year, a remarkable achievement only shared with two other restaurants in Chicago at the time.
Born and raised in British Columbia, close to the oyster-rich Fanny Bay, Chef McLeod developed a deep connection with seafood from a young age. This passion is evident in his current role as Executive Chef/Partner at Ironside Fish & Oyster in San Diego, where he aims to enrich the city with a vibrant oyster culture.
Chef McLeod’s cooking style is characterized as simple, honest, and no-fuss, and he finds culinary inspiration from chefs worldwide, cookbooks, and social media platforms like Instagram. At Ironside, popular dishes include the Chowder Fries, Lobster Roll, and Clam Chowder, with the Chowder Fries being a particular favorite among guests. In addition to his culinary achievements, Chef McLeod is known for his appearances on Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay” and his role in managing the culinary programs at Consortium Holdings, which includes restaurants like Soda & Swine and Ironside Fish & Oyster in San Diego”
