Escondido Street Market – Elote Restaurant

July 26 @ 6:00 pm9:30 pm

Genaro Rodriguez, owner of E•’lo•te Restaurant recently told The Times-Advocate about the Escondido Street Market that happens every Friday night in back of the restaurant.

The Friday night markets offer local small street vendors a place to sell their products to the community.

“We started hosting ‘pop ups’ when the pandemic hit and people started looking for other ways to make money. They were successful for about three months until cities started to crack down on these events since they require proper permits,” said Rodriguez.

After a year of working with the city they were able to receive the necessary permits. Escondido Street Market offers local street vendors a place every Friday night to sell their products/food.

“We have assisted our food vendors in getting the necessary permits through San Diego County Health Department,” said Rodriguez.

The market offers freshly made food, drinks and a great ambiance with music, art, and games.

Food vendors include churros, shave ice, tamales, lumpia, Columbian arapas, Brazilian bites, carnitas, sushi, bacon wrapped hot dogs, Gorditas, mini pancakes, cupcakes,  funnel cakes, shrimp boil, ceviche.

“We also have several crafters selling handmade clothing, earrings, pins, tumblers,” said Rodriguez, who added, “This is an all year round market that we hope continues to grow. Customers can also order food from inside our restaurant and use the seating inside the restaurant. The restaurant offers beer/micheladas and its full menu of fries, quesadillas, tacos, roasted corn. This event it held every Friday night 6 p.m.-9 p.m. in the back lot of Elote Restaurant
