From Virginia Distilling Co. comes their American Single Malt, Courage & Conviction. Aged 3 to 4 years, about 25% in red wine barrels, 25% in sherry casks, and the rest in bourbon barrels. On the nose, this is rich and sweet with raisins, dried apricots, and coconut. On the palate, it’s light up front and slightly sweet but well balanced with fruit, floral, and some of the wine that you expect. Prunes, toffee, and fruit cake are present. Finishes long.
